The Mole Hole of Marshall was opened in October of 1977. It has grown in size to contain three very different areas. The original part of the store houses the fine gifts and collectible. A second store-front added the cards, books and other papergoods. And the two-story addition at the rear of the original store contains a permanent Christmas shop called Christmas Visions.

In 1978 Penny and Mike Kinter, owners of the store, added the Barton Theater Organ . For many years it was only played when an organist was available. But in 1988, a player mechanism was added so that today it can be played at any time. All a customer must do is to ask to hear it.

The organ was originally housed in Marshall's Garden Theater in 1927. It had left Marshall a few years before the Kinter's opened the store, and they were able to buy it and bring it back to town.
